Transfer ownership of tasks from original author

Hello-

We have a project manager moving to a different division within the company and I need to transfer ownership of her in-process tasks so that she does not continue to get email updates regarding those projects rather they go to the new project manager, or at least to me instead. Is there a way to do this as an admin, or a way that she can transfer ownership from her current login?

Permanently deleted user

Hey, you can ask her to build a Dashboard based on tasks 'assigned' to her.

She can then view this Dashboard in the List View by selecting the options button (three dots) on the Dashboard Widget itself and mass actions and reassign to the new user, or to you.

There is now a setting called Ownership on the right pane of a Project where you can add as many owners as you want and delete them as well. I was searching for this option a few weeks ago and I would swear it did not exist at the time. I am not sure when this became available but I still can't find anything about it if I do a search....

I also am looking for a way to transfer ownership of a task, although for different reasons. An HR assistant created a task that has been delegated to a manager. The original owner has access to the task even though she's no longer on it and it's in a folder she's denied permissions to. I'd like to keep the task and more importantly, the comments intact and remove her from updates to maintain manager notes private to the manager.

If we have an employee leave the organization and they are the owner of spaces, folders, or projects how do we transfer that ownership to another user?

Hey @Donna Goodwin, and welcome to the Community!

When you delete a user from the Workspace, a pop up appears that asks you to transfer this data to another user. This includes all projects/tasks created, owned, or assigned to the deleted user. If the deleted user is an admin of a space, the successor will be made admin of this space as well. You can read more about what happens when data is transferred in this Help Centre article.

Any update on this proposal? I also need to be able to transfer ownership of tasks. If there is a way to transfer ownership when someone is deleted, I would hope that feature can be utilized for this as well.
