Sub Tasks - Show Parent Task in all views

When I pull a report or view a dashboard of specific tasks, there is no easy way for me to see what parent task is associated with any sub-tasks.

We may have several sub-tasks that are named similarly, for example "Load data into channel tables." If one resource is assigned multiple tasks like this, a report for them might show:

-Load data into channel tables

-Other task

-Load data into channel tables

But there is no way to easily see what parent task those sub-tasks are referring to unless you individually click into each one which is not ideal.

I'd like to request that we somehow add a way to easily see what the title of the parent task is for all sub-tasks. Is this possible to do?

This is a serious problem for us now. The card on the dashboard views just needs the parent task name field added. That is all. On other programs like Airtable/Zenkit, you can customize what fields the card on the Board shows.

Hi @Ramesh Muthusamy Subramaniam, welcome to the Community. You can see the parent task with its subtasks in New Dashboards by selecting the option Show as hierarchy:

HI Juan, thanks for your response.

In my case I have a Folder-->project--> Task1--> Sub task1

when i report on Sub Task1 level, i want to be able to see which folder and which project it comes from. Clicking show as hierarchy displays only immediate parent task1 level only. .

Can you please help?

When I add location it only shows the project name and not the subfolder or any other location data.

Currently, our location tags can only refer to projects and folders; however, they don't show the parent task. You can hover over the location tag to see the full path. 👇🏼

This is a problem for me as well. In My to-do, I want to see what parent the subtasks are coming from, as we have repeated tasks every month for a certain project. However, I like to sort by due date, and the overall parent task does not have a due date, so I miss the subtask due dates. Location does not help as it just shows me the folder it's in, not the project.

having this feature would improve the usefulness of some of our automations, as automated blueprints can't set the name of the new card based on the trigger card, etc.

Agree with all of the above and adding! Currently we use the Location field, but as mentioned this isn't always helpful. Adding a field that reverts the name of the task that is a certain amount of hierarchy levels above the task (or hierarchy levels generally) would be ideal.
