Duplicate Spaces

Hello all!
As everyone I guess, we are using wrike in a way that fits our operation best. So the way we setup a space, workflow, folder structure, projects, custom fields is tailored to our specific needs.
Being a digital agency, when we onboard a new client we need to quickly create a new space - yet it is currently very tedious.

The request is very simple > we need to be able to duplicate a space or be able to setup a use case of our own so we can use to quickly setup a space exactly how we want it.

would anyone else need that?

Thanks for posting. May I ask if you've considered using one of our Use Case Templates that match your use case? You can access the use-case templates gallery through the space creation wizard.

yes we have checked them out thoroughly and they are great for inspiration - but even the ones that approximate our way of working need significant customisation and changes to tailor them to our exact needs each time we need to set it up for a new client/project.

it seems that we ned to build our own Spaces template/use case... so we can quick recreate whenever we need.

Hi @Yannis Piperakis, hope you don't mind me jumping in here for Cansu 😊 I also wanted to mention the recently launched (in Wrike Labs) Work Templates. There isn't a setting to copy a space at the moment, but you can create project and task-based templates to reuse them 👍 Please let us know what you think.

this is for sure pretty useful and in a good direction. although it would improve something we currently tackle with blueprints.

Imagine that when we setup a new Space (even if we copy a use case) we need to reconfigure the following - which take a lot of time:

Delete automatically created workflows that don't make sense to us
Setup Custom Fields for the Space (possibly delete automatically created ones from a use case)
Re-assign and configure the appropriate workflows
Setup Calendar views and set at least 6-7 layers in each one
Setup Workload charts
Setup Dashboards
Setup Reports
Then we could use a work template (or blueprints) to give structure to our projects that will be used under this space

it would be awesome if we could save one of our spaces as a "Account wide Use Case" that we could copy... or just be able to duplicate an existing space...

Hello, I wanted to follow-up on Yannick's post above to first also express my organization's need to have the ability of either duplicating a space or, ideally, creating a use case of our own to be used in the future. Is there an update from the Wrike team around a timeline to implement such a feature?

Hi @Isabelle Couture, thank you for reaching out! For now, we don't have news on space duplication. It would be great if you could share some detail on your use case, because there are ways to duplicate and reuse work items in Wrike, like Blueprints, Work Templates, and just simple duplication of tasks, projects, and folders. Can this help?

Hello - I would like to follow-up on this and request the same functionality. We would like to be able to do this as well. It would be so helpful to be able to maintain linkages that we have already built out when creating a new space.

Hi! I would also like to be able to duplicate a space. I will be helping various teams enhance their spaces. I would like to duplicate their existing space so that I can make changes without impacting their current structure and workflows. Essentially a sandbox space for each team I am supporting. Then, once I have confirmation of the changes, I would implement them in the existing space, or transition the team to the new space and get rid of the previous space. If you have a better way to do this, please let me know!

I found a work around - if you move everything into a folder that you want to duplicate, you can then duplicate the folder and then use it to create a new space.

I would also appreciate to duplicate spaces.

Now with the costum item types, i'm able to make really usefull project and task templates. But for a new Space I have to do all the costum item types again. If I just set up a template space and duplicate that I can just make some adjustments für the specific client and thats it. everything else is ready.

To make the costum item types on workspace level is not a solution. Because if I want to adjust them I change it for all spaces.

@Lukas Flatz Completely agree! We are relying heavily on custom item types currently and it would certainly save a lot of time not having to recreate everything (and the automations associated with them). Upvote on this request!

Another upvote here. We spent the time to create a space and we want to use it as a test case for the future, using all the custom fields, etc. Why create a new one when you can have your own "Space Blueprint"?

I agree too, it can be very useful.
Other option is to add Space as a template.

I would use a duplicate space feature. I have private spaces for my direct reports, using the weekly to-do template with extensive modifications (automation, views, dashboard widgets, etc). Each time I need a new space for a new direct report, I have to create the space from the weekly to-do template.
