[Status: Not planned] Chat functionality

Our team would greatly appreciate it if Wrike would consider adding in a "live chat" feature into Wrike for users and collaborators.

www.Strikebase.com is a great example of a project management tool that includes encrypted (and searchable) chat functionality, which is great! This company also just released Zala (zala.net), which might be a great alternative if somehow integrated (perhaps you should contact them...:))

Anyways, this is a feature we'd love to bring into Wrike, since we're forced to either use Zala or What's App for those quick communication needs.

If possible, any chance you all will add a Calendar function so our team can glance at upcoming marketing campaigns and projects? Just a thought...thanks!

Hi Ross, it's a good idea and can see how this could come in useful.

I assume that using the comments section is not the type of communication format you're looking for. However, we have a great integration with Slack chat which might be of interest to you.

This was suggested by Andrey and it would be great if you go there and vote so we can keep all suggestions in one place for the Product Team's review.

As for the calendar suggestion, there's a popular suggestion, Calendar view of task assignments. Again if this interests you, it would be beneficial to vote for it there.

We would LOVE Wrike to have its own Slack-like chat where messages can be typed and @ mentions can be done in a place where it doesn't need to be within a Task. Then we could stop using Slack. This feature could be as simple as expanding the functionality of the Stream view so that there's a field at the top of Stream where people can enter a chat message "unattached" to any particular Task. Reducing the number of apps where our team needs to look for "did you see my message about that?" instances would be great. You'd just need to include the ability to have threads/nested chats.

You could expand this further (beyond the Stream view) if you wanted, by adding a Channel option to the Folders and Projects pane on the left. For any Wrike users who also use Slack, it could allow them to centralise their chat/conversations into Wrike and make it the hub, instead of Slack.

This is the one big deficiency with Wrike. I want to replace Podio, but currently can't until Wrike has a chat area or plugin.

I absolutely concur. The chat function is Podio is a huge plus for us. We really want / need to migrate to Wrike, and having a chat function built in would make it a no-brainer to switch. Even just a box on the screen where you can to @ mentions would be fantastic.

Huge upvote, yes please. We need live chat in Wrike. We're literally sharing links to tasks with each other over our chat system, to tell them when there have been updates. Live Chat should be built in.

Just to clarify. Sixty votes stand as the threshold for when the Product Team will review and consider the idea. They will then provide a Status so we know where the idea stands in terms of the existing development roadmaps.

This doesn't mean they don't look and review posts with under 60 votes. If it's related to ongoing developments or if it simply interests them, they'll read it and consider the suggestions and use cases provided.

The Product Teams actually spend a lot of them here reading your ideas (they could even be watching this now 👀)

So please follow Joseph's instructions and vote, vote vote! 🙌

I agree! Chatting with team and collaborators in Wrike, and not having it need to be associated with a task or project would be a great asset! Trying so hard to keep all work related items of teams email inbox is difficult without having a chat function right in Wrike. I do not want to add another tool to achieve this function!

Yes we agree. The slack app integration is pretty unusable, and we would switch the full team over from Slack if you integrated any kind of functional communication. Seems like a big oversight. Take my money!

Yes please! I've used multiple project management platforms and currently am working with Basecamp. However I find I like Wrike better but I'm torn because Basecamp has a dm feature although I like Slack better. If Wrike has something similar to Slack built in I would be using Wrike right now.

I'm either going to be staying with Basecamp because of the dm feature, or going to Wrike + Slack like I've done in the past, but this would be a no brainer for me to go Wrike if there was built in chat.

Totally agree with previous posts. Chat would be a huge improvement! We try to use as few different enviroments for communication as possible.

I don't see a huge need to better connectivity between wrike and other chat apps. The possibility to use only one app is totally different level.
