Levels of Approval

I would like to be able to add levels to the approval process. If I have two people review and they approve, I would like to more that document to level two approval without having the original approvers re-approve. I don't want to remove my approves because I don't want to lose the approval, but if I add a new approver and update the version, everyone has to approve again. I want to close one level, maintain the approvals and request a second level of approvals.

That would be very convenient, and make our workflow so much smoother. In our case, we have a proofer that is reviewing the work before it goes to a creative director. Only if the proofer approves, the work goes to CD. The workaround is to add additional statuses, but we see our designers find that confusing. We have to create review stage1, stage2 etc. It all goes well, as long as proofer approves, because we set an automation to switch to next stage, which triggers a second approval process. Problem happens when proofer has changes... designers get confused as to why they need to stay in stage1.
Having a 2-step approval would be SO convenient.
