Save/Undo button for timeline (Gantt)

I frequently need to slide tasks and projects around on the timeline to see how moving them will affect other projects on the schedule. Frequently, though, I need to undo one move (or several) and put things back "the way they were." Other PM software I've used has a save button on the timeline, and it's immensely helpful. I hope you'll be able to add this critically important feature.

Hi Larry, thanks for sharing this! I think it's a really interesting use case and can see how this would be helpful. Do you see this being something like a "sandbox" mode where you could generally try out different scenarios of Project scheduling, not only on the Timeline View?

Yes, definitely. I would use this feature most frequently in timeline view, but I can see how other people might prefer to use it in list view or other views.

The key though is being able to move different tasks/milestones/projects around and then either hit Save and keep the changes, or exit out of the "sandbox" mode and cancel the changes.

This is especially helpful when you realize that by moving something you've broken a dependency (or multiple dependencies) and need to abort.

It would be really nice to have the ability to execute multiple undos, by pressing a hotkey combo such as Ctrl-Z, a button to press multiple times, etc. I just made two changes to the timeline without realizing that the first one deleted a dependency without warning (another issue), and it would all be solved if I could just undo my work more than one step.

As another example, I just now accidentally deleted a dependency in a large project, but there was no "undo" option at the bottom that appeared. A permanent undo button would be the simple solution that I need.

An undo option would be amazing. Once our project is set up, we're terrified to touch anything on it besides changing statuses. It's so easy to make mistakes, and so difficult to fix them! Being able to undo or revert to the last saved would really help us be able to use this tool more fully.

I have to agree with everything in this thread. It's a big pain point for me right now that I can't CTRL + Z a change in timeline view. To work around it I have to work on a different software (ie. Smartsheet) so I know what the original timeline was. Should be able to do this all via Wrike. I hope this critical feature is being worked on and will be implemented soon.

Hi! I'm wondering when the function "undo" will work for Wrike. We consider changing Asana to Wrike and after few tests realized that "undo" is crucial for us. Do you have a due date for this task?

@Joss In terms of an undo function that allows you to revert the Timeline back to what it was a specific point, that's not on the shortterm roadmap at the moment. The team is interested in improving baseline feature functionality (but no dates or concrete decisions to share on that yet!).

There appears to be an Undo function on the Desktop App, but it doesn't look like it actually does anything? I assume this is just something that comes with the app template, but it's a shame to have it sat there useless.

This is only for undoing text input. It works the same as CMD+Z shortcut. There are no plans to extend this button out to undoing actions in Wrike however as Stephanie has outlined above there are some things that the team are discussing baseline and are aware of the use-cases and input on this thread.

We'll update you here when we have more information.

Hi Everyone, i have test several programs and Wrike was the choice however i have "discover" this huge bug, it´s essential an undo fuction!!

We what to deploy to more than 1000 users, but with this BUG... no way.

I forgot to mention, kind of assuming people were aware of this, but you can use the Stream view within a task, project or entire team workspace to see the most recent changes made. This is how I check to see if any changes that I was unaware of have been made by other people to my tasks or projects, but is also useful as an undo action if you have changed something accidentally.

I agree whole-heartedly that this feature is a must-need! David's advice of looking at the Stream view is a Huge help - thank you! I am keeping my fingers crossed that the undo option in Timeline view becomes available soon!

As a project manager, the need to reverse an action is vital. Especially if we expand a summary task to see the down flow effect upon a project. If I have a summary task end date scheduled, but don't take notice, and move it forward to project impact, I don't want to not know the previous date.

I've also noticed an "undo" popup at the bottom of the browser. This doesn't appear all the time and once it "times out" you can initiate it again. The popup should have an manual closeout because I need to think about what just occurred. The time out is way too fast.

Finally, a snapshot or previous versions revert option is needed, especially if new to the tool. I handed over a project to someone else, that was learning the tool and accidentally changed things and did not know how to start over!

Jim Broomell expressed several of my same experiences and issues. If there was option of a save button for any changes you have made that would allow you to revert back to the way you had it at your last save, that would be Wonderful. Additionally I have noticed there are instances that the orignal dates do not appear, even when looking in the stream view.

We are withe several users working on shared Projects. An undo button would be very helpfull. I am spending quiet a bit time to fix "accidents".

Is there no fix to this yet? This is a huge deal breaker. We are rolling out wrike and schedules are being accidentally changed constantly with no undo... this is nuts.
