Actual start and completion dates shown in gantt chart

It would be great to have a visual of how a project played out by seeing the real start and end date of tasks. Not the start and due date but start and completion date. This would allow us to see when the tasks were started and when they were completed in a gantt chart form, regardless of due date.

What would be even better is if we can see a visual gantt chart of start, due and completion date. It would allow us to analyze where things took longer and report on delays, allowing us to learn from history.

It would be great to see the timeline showing the planned vs actual, similar to other project management tools.

@Vijay Gandhi I just found an Analytics view option (same place as where you would find the Gantt Chart). It shows the timeline from how it started to how it's going. But I am unclear when the original timeline gets set, especially when dates change after initial discovery phase (for our projects).

In our case it would be great to visualize in the Gantt chart the dates set along with a visual information of when the task is actual completed.

In this example below the task 1 was only completed a couple of days after the expected date.

Have that visual representation would be very useful to the project supervisor to decide if there is a need to reschedule the following tasks

It would greatly enhance our project tracking capabilities to visualize the progression of tasks by showcasing both their actual start and completion dates, rather than just their planned start and due dates. This would enable us to observe when tasks were initiated and when they were successfully completed, providing a comprehensive view in the form of a Gantt chart, irrespective of their original due dates.

Even more beneficial would be the ability to display a visual Gantt chart that includes the start, due, and completion dates of tasks. This comprehensive visualization would empower us to pinpoint areas where tasks took longer than anticipated, facilitating the identification of delays and enabling us to derive valuable insights from past experiences.

Yes I second this - Really I feel this could be done pretty easy by allowing us to track when something moves from say product backlog - to in progress (so status tracking).

I feel this is really missing from the custom field formula option.

Additionally, why do we have a completed date (different from due date) - but not have a started date (aka when it shifts status).

Please do not suggest wrike analyze because I do not feel like this is related - and its another can of worms for what the sales person made it seem like we could do without wrike analyze.

@Marta Stanis Something I have done is in the gantt chart - you can mark a public snapshot of when you originally set the timeline - and then compare it to how things ended up. it gives you baseline start and end dates, versus the present.

Currently, the Gantt Chart doesn’t track actual start dates. However, if you need to track actual start and completion dates, you can add custom date fields to your tasks or projects. This way, you can record and report on these dates in a way that works for your team, even though it’s not built into the Gantt Chart itself. 😊👍🏽
