Highlight and sum does not work when in a filtered table?

I am using table view with it filtered to "All active". When I try to highlight cells in the effort column to see the sum in the bottom right corner, they do not appear. I turn off the filter so the table is not filtered at all, still no sum in the bottom right. I have to open a new table view that has no filters set up yet, then highlight the cells the the figures appear on the bottom.

I could maybe understand that it won't calculate if my filters are active, but don't understand why I have to create a new table view in order for that feature to work?
