TL;DR: Board view now lets you display projects as cards - not just tasks. Switch between Tasks and Projects with a single click in the toolbar. Project cards show status, assignees, subitems, and due dates, and can be dragged between columns just like task cards. Available on Business plans and above.
Hi Community! π
We're beyond excited to announce a highly requested feature: Projects in Board View is now live! ππ
A huge thank you to everyone who shared feedback, upvoted, and described their use cases in threads like these:
Your voices were heard. Let's dive in! π
What's New?
Until now, Board view only displayed tasks and task-based custom items. Now, you can choose to display Projects as cards on the Board - giving you a true Kanban-style view for managing projects at a higher level.
How It Works
- Toggle between Tasks and Projects: In the Board view toolbar, click the Display menu and select either Tasks or Projects.
- Tasks mode: Displays task-level items (including custom item types) as cards.
- Projects mode: Displays project-level items (including custom item types) as cards.
- Full Board functionality: All existing Board features work in both modes - drag-and-drop between status columns, filtering, sorting, grouping, and more.
Subitems: In Tasks mode, subitems show task-level items. In Projects mode, subitems show project-level items.
How to Display Projects in Board View
- Navigate to the space, folder, or project where you want to see your projects.
- Switch to Board view.
- Click the Display menu in the toolbar and select Projects from the dropdown.
Your project cards will now follow the same column grouping logic as task cards and can be moved between columns to update their status.
What's on Each Project Card?
Each project card displays key information at a glance:
- π Project icon
- π Project name
- π€ Assignee(s)
- π Subitems (expandable - click to view)
- π
Due date
π A Few Things to Note
- Subitems behavior: Subitems for projects work similarly to subitems for tasks. You can add and edit subitems directly from the project card. However, subitems can't be moved separately from the parent project card.
- Project-level subitems only: When Board view is set to Projects mode, only project-level subitems are displayed - subtasks are not shown.
- Plan availability: Board view Project Display is available on Business and higher plans only.
Why This Matters
Teams managing multiple projects simultaneously - whether in marketing campaigns, product development, consulting, or PMO operations - can now get a true visual, Kanban-style overview of their project portfolio directly in Board view.
With Projects in Board view, you can now:
β
Visualize your entire project portfolio in a clean, drag-and-drop Kanban layout
β
Update project statuses instantly by moving cards between columns
β
Run status meetings with a clear, visual overview of where every project stands
β
Keep tasks and projects separate - toggle between the two views as needed
This feature was shaped by Community feedback - and we couldn't be more grateful. π We'd love to keep the conversation going!
