Our team is currently experiencing ongoing friction with the "Open Wrike links in the desktop app" setting on macOS. The current implementation relies on a web-browser redirect script that frequently fails due to local cache corruption, browser protocol blocks, or browser updates. Resolving this currently requires IT administrative intervention, terminal scripting, or manual user steps.
To provide a seamless, zero-touch user experience that aligns with Apple's modern security architecture, we request that Wrike implements one of the following native solutions:
- Support Native macOS Universal Links:
Configure a secure 'apple-app-site-association' (AASA) file on your web servers. This will allow macOS to automatically intercept standard 'wrike.com' email hyperlinks at the OS-level and route them directly to the installed Wrike Desktop App, entirely bypassing the web browser middleman and eliminating security pop-up prompts. - A "Direct-to-App" Link Preference in Email Settings:
Provide an account-level notification toggle that allows users to change the raw structure of links embedded in email notifications. When enabled, Wrike should generate native application protocol links (e.g., wrike://tasks/ID) instead of standard HTTPS web links. macOS naturally understands app protocols and will launch the desktop client immediately.
This update would significantly improve workflow efficiency for desktop-heavy teams and remove a persistent point of friction. Thank you for your consideration!
