I discovered today that there is no way to assign a custom field's value to an answer on a Form question.
Here's my use case:
- I created a single-select custom field called "Web Work" with two answers: Yes and No. I'm using this to identify website-related tasks because we have identified at least five owners of web work and I'm using this field in conjunction with another one to filter the work for them.
- I didn't create this as a folder because after testing that option first, I discovered I'm limited on the filtering options, mostly with dashboards (example: we can't filter by "Location", so if a "Web Work" folder is also tagged to a project, a dev backlog, etc, it can start to pull in other info not needed and chart views become cluttered and unusable.
- We have two main request forms where web-related work can be submitted: IT and Marketing. I know I have the option of adding my custom field as another form question and forcing users to select "Yes or No" themselves, but this is an extra step I don't feel they should have to do. Both of these forms have some type of "What can we help you with?" question with "website" as an answer for users to select. THAT is what I want to apply my custom field to. On the Marketing form, there's another answer under that question that would apply. It seems silly to ask them to answer another question that verifies "Yes, this is indeed a web-related request."
- Sadly, when I clicked the "+ Action" link to map an answer to a custom field, it's not an option. :(
User story format:
As a Wrike Admin updating a Form,
I want a "Map to custom field" option on the "+ Action" link for all question types
So that I can automate the population of certain custom fields for data governance purposes
As always, thanks for the consideration, Wrike team! I'm all ears if you guys or anyone else has a better way to solve my automation goal (not using a blueprint with Forms).
