Wrike Automation Support - Auto Generate Date, when no start or due date is used

Hello,

I need some help with an automation, i want to automate the generation of the start and due date when a new task is created and the user has not populated this information.

My example is: I have form generated tasks that make this field mandatory, however some users need the ability to come into the same space and add tasks, when they forget to populate the task for the first time with a date, it does not prioritise the work. I want to ensure when a new task is created that the creation date is defaulted to start and due.

I don't have the ability in the condition todo 'empty' can you show me a screen capture of how you would set that up please?

Hi @Marcus Clarke,

You can set start and due dates with an automation: use the trigger "New item is created" with the condition that start and due dates are empty. As the action, set today's date plus a delay in days if needed.

Alternatively, instead of adding the dates automatically, the automation could move the task to a status like "To be scheduled" and notify the creator with a comment, asking them to add the dates or move the task to "New". You can then make start and due dates required fields on the "New" status, so no task gets there without them.
