Emoji reaction on comments to appear in inbox

Why?

We are collaborating on Wrike and by doing so, some people add comments or just want to inform their colleagues. However, it is not always necessary to respond to every comment. But no reaction at all would be inappropriate as well. By adding an emoji, you can give a quick feedback to your colleague and let them know that you read the comment.

However, if your colleague doesn't get an inbox notification, it seems as if I am ignoring their comments.

Current Workaround?

At the moment, the only alternative is to add a comment everytime a colleague posts an update.

Suggestion?

When adding an emoji to a comment of a colleague, create a notification in the inbox of your colleague that posted an update.

By doing this, quick feedback on updates is possible (time saving). Furthermore, it might be easier to express your feelings towards a comment when using an emoji instead of writing a comment.

What is the reason this was taken out at some point last year (a colleague remembers that it was still possible last year)?

Hey @Christina Fischer, that note is in reference to being able to view emojis in comments in the Inbox. For example, if you were to tag a teammate in a comment and have an emoji in the text of that comment, your teammate would see the emoji in the Inbox. There is currently no way to receive a notification if someone reacts to a comment you've posted, but it's a nice idea so please be sure to upvote this thread.

Being notified of a reaction would be really valuable. This is what we are used to in Microsoft Teams. It's common behavior for people to only react with an emoji and to not leave a comment. Their expectation is that their reaction has been noted and if an action is needed then it will be carried out.

E.g.

Designer: Here is the final draft. Are you ready for me to package the files?

Customer: [Thumbs up]

(Nothing happens for a week while designer waits to be notified of a response, and then eventually checks the task)

Admittedly, this can also be solved with better communication and education, but this would still be a valuable update and would reduce the lead-time to complete projects

Having some sort of notification in Wrike that a comment has received a reaction will improve communication. Many people add emojis to let the poster know the comment has been read, but many people also use the emoji reaction to convey agreement or approval. The only way to reliably see the reaction is to open the task and scroll to the comment to see if anyone has reacted. It can be the cause of days of delay and can leave the impression that we aren't communicating with our customers.

It would also be an improvement to remove emoji responses until a notification function was added.

This is a basic issue that should be solved right away. What is the point in reacting with an emoji if the person you're responding to doesn't receive notice of your reaction? They would have to coincidentally or proactively return to the task and look for reactions, which isn't practical or efficient.

Hi @Elizaveta Bogdanova thanks for passing this feedback to the product team. This doesn't feel like a feature request, this seems more like fixing a problem. Can you please mention to the product team that the current state creates causes a lot of missed communication. People are used to using an emoji reaction to confirm a decision. E.g. Is this design ready to be exported and sent to the printers? And the 'reply' is a Thumbs up. Without a notification we can lose days thinking we haven't received a reply.

It would be very helpful to receive notifications when a comment or @mention receives an emoji reaction . Emoji reactions are often used as quick confirmations or acknowledgments, and without a notification, it’s easy for that response to be overlooked. This can sometimes lead to missed communication, unclear approvals, or delays in timelines. Having visibility into reactions would help ensure confirmations aren’t missed and keep projects moving forward smoothly.

Oftentimes, I will use reactions as a way to address @mentions that people are sending to me. However, when it doesn't notify the user, it feels as though we are just ignoring their message. Similar to any other platform you might add a reaction in (Outlook, gmail, Teams, other PM platforms), they all notify the user when a reaction is applied to something they sent. Wrike should be able to do this as well!
