Add Author As Assignee in Blueprint

Hey,

I think a really handy feature for Blueprints would be the ability to add the "author" as the assignee. Right now, we’re using automations as a workaround because the author is usually the project owner (and also the stakeholder/SME), so they need to be involved in several key steps throughout the project.

How do you all manage adding the author or SME to the necessary tasks when a new project is created? Would love to hear how others are handling this!

Hey @Kelly St Cyr!

We created an empty job role called "Requester" and have set up an automation so that when a new task (or project) is created, to:

a) Add author on tasks that have Requester assigned

b) Remove Requester job role

Agree with your point - if it was something that was pre-established and possible in blueprints, or even in request forms, it would make our list of automations a little less chaotic

I'm also utilizing automations to assign the author to a projects' tasks. Our workaround is to leave the task unassigned in the blueprint and then the automation is:

Apply rule to: Task
When: new item is created
Condition: Assignee is unassigned
Change assignee to: Item author

Is this similar to the automations you currently have in place?

@Anna Giacobbe that is a great workaround. Thank you! I am hoping they can work this into their updates in the near future to make it easier without the need for automations!
