Automation rules help!

Hoping someone can help me set up an automation rule.

Use Case: We have a "Programming" task that contains subtasks of features we are implementing in the sprint. I want to let the designer that has been assigned to this project know that these features are completed and that they should review the work. We have a specific step in our workflow called "Ready for review." and a "Design review" task that is dependant (for dates, with the assigned designer) on the Programming task.

My problem is that we have a number of different designers that can be assigned so when setting up an automation rule (for example when all subtasks are marked ready to review, let xxx designer know), I can't figure out how to alert the designer or trigger off that next "Design review" task. I've tried creating a custom field on the project, thinking Wrike can check that field and @mention them or check that field and assign them a task, but I don't see a trigger or action that lets me say @mention custom field "assigned designer."

Any pros in automation rules that can help?

@Danielle Wilson If your designer is already assigned to the task, you could use your Ready for Review status as the trigger for a rule that @mentions the assignee to let them know action is needed.

@Ali Moses Thank you for helping! My question is how do I get the next task to @ mention the assignee to let them know the work is ready to review. Here is a screen shot of my plan as well as a video clip of me walking through it.

@Danielle Wilson Aha! That video was so helpful. Okay, I would look into this article on dependencies. You should set up Programming 2 as a predecessor to Design 2 Reveiw Programming and then use "All Predecessor Statuses Change To" as your trigger for the @mention of Renee.

@Ali Moses Thank you! I also figured out that I need an additional workflow step to set a condition on my automation rule. Originally, it was triggering the status change and the message for all tasks that are the successor of that task - which I didn't want it to happen on the next programming tasks - only the design review tasks. By adding an additional workflow status to that design review task only, I can have the automation rule look for the successor AND the status, then change just those specific design review tasks to in progress and let the designer know in the @ mention message. Yay!
