Can the Excel Import insert a task between existing tasks within a project?

I’m trying to use the Excel Import tool to add one new top‑level task (with its subtasks) into existing projects. Each project already has ~20 tasks based on our template. I need the imported task to appear in a very specific position within the project’s task list. Wrike’s task numbering is automatic and based on position, so inserting a new task should renumber everything after it. However, when I use the Excel Import, Wrike always places the new task at the top of the task list, no matter what I put in the “Key” column. So I end up having to manually drag the task up into the correct spot every time.

Is there any way to import a task directly into a specific position in an existing project such without manually dragging it afterward? Or is manual reordering still the only option in Wrike?

Short answer: No (that I am aware of). Wrike’s Excel import cannot place a task at a specific position within an existing task list. Manual reordering is still required after import.

Practical workarounds:

1. As you are doing, manual drag after import. Import the task, then drag it to the correct position in the List view. Once moved, Wrike automatically renumbers downstream tasks.
   
2. Import everything first, then sort by a custom field. Create a numeric “Order” custom field and include it in the Excel import and sort the list view by that field. However, this changes the display order only while sorted, not the underlying manual order. If users switch back to manual order, the imported tasks will still be at the top.
