We rely heavily on Workload charts to manage and track team capacity. From time to time, our team notices that effort is being allocated, but they are unable to locate the corresponding tasks when viewing the chart grouped by Project. This creates confusion and makes it difficult to reconcile where the assigned effort is actually coming from.
Upon reviewing the Workload chart, I’ve confirmed that the task does appear when the filter is changed to “All Tasks.” In this view, the item with the allocated effort becomes visible. However, when the Workload chart is left at its default filter of “All Active Tasks,” the effort allocation is still displayed even though the task itself is hidden. This occurs because the task is in an On Hold/Deferred status, which falls outside of the Active category.
Our request is to better align the behavior of the Workload chart with the applied filters. Specifically:
- When the chart is filtered to Active Tasks only, it should display only the effort associated with those active tasks.
- Effort tied to non-active tasks (such as On Hold or Deferred) should only be shown when the filter is set to All Tasks.
This change would improve clarity, reduce confusion for users reviewing workload data, and ensure that the displayed effort accurately reflects the scope of tasks currently visible in the chart.
