TL;DR:
Allow admins to create a custom, mobile-friendly task tab where key fields, widgets, and actions from across the task can be placed in one organized view. Layouts should ideally be assignable by project, folder, space, role, group, or user type, so different users can see only what is relevant to them.
Request:
It would be useful to be able to customize the task overview layout, especially for mobile users who only need access to specific fields and actions.
The idea is to create a custom tab that can be placed as the first/main tab on mobile, alongside existing tabs like Overview, Subitems, Files, Approvals, and Time Tracker. This custom tab could contain selected fields/widgets from across the task, such as status, custom fields, time tracking, file previews, approvals, subitems, comments, or other task functionality, in whatever order the admin deems logical.
This would let users update and interact with the most relevant task information from one organized, mobile-friendly view, instead of switching between multiple tabs or seeing unnecessary fields.
Layouts could be assigned at the project, folder, or space level, applying to all tasks within that area. Ideally, different layouts could also be assigned by user role, group, user type, or a combination of these, allowing different views for different people.
On desktop, this may only require controls for choosing the placement and order of fields or widgets in the existing overview, while mobile would benefit most from a dedicated custom tab.
It would also be helpful to support date-range custom fields, as this would pair well with more flexible task layouts. However, I see this has already been requested by another user, but has sadly been marked as “not planned.”
Suggested capabilities:
- Create a named custom tab for mobile.
- Place the custom tab as the first/main task tab.
- Add selected fields, widgets, and actions from other tabs into this custom tab.
- Control field/widget order and placement.
- Assign layouts by project, folder, space for role, group, or user type, or a combination of these.
- Support date-range custom fields.
