TL;DR: You can attach files to any task in Wrike by dragging and dropping them, or by clicking the Add files button and choosing a source like your computer, Google Drive, OneDrive, and more.
Hey Community! 👋
Great collaboration starts with easy access to the right files. In Wrike, you can attach design briefs, spreadsheets, reference videos, client documents, and more directly to your tasks, so your team always has what they need, right where the work happens.
Here's everything you need to know about attaching files in Wrike.
How to attach a file to a task
1. Open the task you want to attach the file to.
2. Drag and drop the file from your computer to the bottom of the task. The area will turn blue to show you where to drop it. (Works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and the Wrike Desktop App.)
3. Or click the Add files button (paper clip icon 📎) above the description field and choose your source:
4. Select your file and press OK to upload.5. Once uploaded, the file appears below the description field and is accessible to everyone shared on that task.Â
 Other ways to attach files:
- Via comments: Use the paperclip icon in the comment editor to attach a file alongside your message.
Finding all your files
Once you start attaching files across multiple tasks, you'll want an easy way to see everything in one place. That's where Files view comes in!
Navigate to any space, folder, or project, switch to Files view from the view options, and you'll see every attachment within that location.
From there you can sort, filter, download, or delete files without opening individual tasks. Files View is available on Team plans and above.
Real-world example
Your marketing team receives a campaign brief as a PDF. You open the campaign task in Wrike, click Add files, select Your computer, and upload the PDF. Now everyone assigned to the task can access the brief without digging through email.
Good to know
- Works on folders and projects too: You can attach files to folders and projects the same way. Open the folder or project item view and follow the same steps.
- Spot tasks with attachments easily: In Table view, a paperclip icon appears next to tasks that have files attached, so you can quickly tell which tasks have attachments without opening them.
- File size limits: The maximum size for a single file is 4 GB on Free, Team, and Business Plus plans, or 10 GB on Legacy Enterprise and Pinnacle plans. There are no file type restrictions, so any format can be attached.
- No limit on attachments per task: You can attach as many files as you need to a single task. However, attaching a very large number of files to one task may affect workspace performance.
- First-time cloud storage users: If you're attaching from Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, SharePoint, Bynder, or MediaValet for the first time, Wrike will ask you to sign in and grant access.
- Cloud files stay linked: When you attach a file from cloud storage, Wrike adds a link to the original file. You'll always see the latest version, and any edits save directly to the cloud.
- File previews: DOC, DOCX, PPT, XLS, and PPTX files can be previewed directly in Wrike. (Not available on Free and Team plans.)
- Can't see the Add files option? Your account admin may have restricted certain file sources. Reach out to them if something looks missing.
