TL;DR: To add a comment in Wrike, open a task, project, or folder and type in the comment box in the Stream or Activity Stream. Use the @ symbol followed by a name to @mention someone and notify them directly .
Hey Community! 👋
Comments and @mentions are how you communicate inside Wrike without leaving the task . Instead of sending a separate email or direct message, you can loop people in right where the work is happening. Here's how to use both:
How to add a comment
- Open the task, project, or folder you want to comment on.
- Find the Stream or Activity Stream section .
- Click Add a comment.
- Type your message.
- Click Send. Alternatively, press Enter or Ctrl+Enter (Windows) / Cmd+Enter (Mac)

How to @mention someone
- While typing your comment, type @ followed by the person's name (or a user group name).
- Select the correct person or group from the dropdown that appears.
- Finish your comment and send it as usual.
That's it. The person you mentioned will get a notification in their Wrike Inbox.
- Attach a file: Click the paperclip icon in the comment box to attach a document, image, or other file directly to your comment.
- Insert an emoji: Click the emoji icon in the comment box to add emojis directly into your comment text as you type. Additionally, hover over an already-posted comment and click the react icon to add a quick emoji reaction without writing a reply.
- Format your text: On desktop/web, the comment box supports bold, italic, strikethrough, and code blocks.

Want AI to help you write or catch up on comments?
If Generative AI is enabled on your account, you'll notice a couple of extra tools in the comment box:
- An AI icon that lets you refine a comment you've already typed - fix grammar, change the tone, or translate it into another language.
- A Summarize comments button that appears once a thread has more than 5 comments, giving you a quick recap instead of scrolling through everything.

Separately, AI Agents can be @mentioned in comments to appoint and activate them. To set this up, Space admins configure them to automatically post comments, update fields, or @mention people based on triggers you define - without anyone typing anything .
For example, an agent could automatically comment "@David , this task is overdue" when a due date passes.Â

Real-world example
Say you're reviewing a draft attached to a task and notice a typo, and you also want to confirm the timeline is still on track. Instead of messaging the author elsewhere, you'd open the task, go to the comment box, and type:
@Amy White noticed 'configur' should be 'configure' in paragraph 2 . Can you fix that and confirm we're still on track to publish this by Friday?
Amy gets an Inbox notification right away, and the conversation stays attached to the task for anyone else who checks it later.

Good to know
- @mentions share the item automatically. If the person you mention doesn't already have access to the task, project, or folder, mentioning them gives them Full access automatically.
- @assignees only works on tasks, not projects or folders (since projects use "owners" instead of assignees).
- @followers works on tasks, projects, and folders and notifies everyone currently following that item.
- You can't @mention someone in a description, only in comments.
- Commenting on a task automatically makes you a follower of that task, so you'll get updates on future activity.
- The reply button doesn't auto-notify everyone in the thread. If you click "Reply" it @mentions the original commenter only . You'll need to manually @mention anyone else you want to loop in .
- If you have limited access (like Editor without sharing rights), you can only @mention people who already have access to that item .
